Widening Of Lake Ridge Parkway to Begin This Month

Construction will soon begin to widen Lake Ridge Parkway from Great Southwest Parkway to the Lake Joe Pool. With more than 25,000 vehicles using Lake Ridge Parkway each year, the thoroughfare will be widened from four to six lanes. The construction project is expected take one year.

Beginning mid-January, the northbound lanes will be closed with the traffic converted to two-way on the southbound side.

When construction on the northbound lanes is completed in June, southbound will be closed and traffic will become two-way on the northbound side.

All six lanes should be open by November 2012, with miscellaneous project details being completed by January 2013.

TxDOT, Tarrant County and the City of Grand Prairie jointly fund the $8 million project. The city’s portion is $1.3 million. McMahon Contracting is the contractor on the project.
