Police to Launch Innovative Program that Targets Problem Areas

In February, the Grand Prairie Police Department will begin a new, proactive, aggressive program to curb identified crime problems in certain areas of Grand Prairie.

The innovative program, called IMPACT (Intense Mobile Patrol Against Crime Trends), will use the latest crime intelligence information from the Criminal Intelligence Unit to deploy a high-intensity police response to a specific geographic area of the city to aggressively address identified crime issues.

The IMPACT team is made up of four self-motivated, driven and task oriented patrol officers who agree to work flexible hours and make adjustments to their schedules to meet the needs of the IMPACT Team.

IMPACT team officers will primarily work in uniform and use marked squad cars. The officers will not be required to respond to regular calls for service. Their primary function is to address the identified crime issues in the target area.

Police will begin the IMPACT program on February 25.
