Grand Prairie Police Offers Lateral Entry Program
The Lateral Entry Program is a form of seniority pay, offering additional compensation for those qualified applicants who already have prior experience as peace officers with a comparable law enforcement agency. The lateral entry officers must complete the same steps in the Civil Service hiring process as applicants with no prior police experience. If hired, lateral entry officers may qualify for an abbreviated police academy and field training program.
“The Lateral Entry Program is an additional recruiting tool for us to continue drawing qualified applicants to our agency,” Grand Prairie Police Chief Steve Dye said.
The Grand Prairie Police Department is seeking highly motivated, diverse, community-oriented recruits to join the team of 227 sworn officers serving the growing city of Grand Prairie. The application deadline is Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, for the Civil Service Exam on Saturday, Jan. 14, which is the first testing requirement in the hiring process.
GPPD offers competitive compensation and the opportunity for advancement in a progressive, professional and nationally accredited agency. For more information about the Lateral Entry Program and the hiring process, visit www.grandprairiepolice.org/jobs.
