All four are students at Mansfield Timberview High School.
Sergeant Eric Hansen, Traffic Division, said Carlos Marquez, 15, of Arlington, a back seat passenger in a 2003 Lexus RX300, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident occurred at about 11:30 p.m., Sergeant Hansen said, when Kimberly Pimentel, 17, of Grand Prairie, driving north bound on SH 360 at a high rate of speed, lost control of the Lexus while passing a slower car. The Lexus spun into the center median where it collided with a tree at the back right passenger door.
Pimentel was taken by CareFlite helicopter ambulance to Methodist Dallas Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.
Isaiah Rodriguez, 16, of Arlington, was ejected from the car and transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where he was listed in critical, but stable condition.
Flordeluna Flores, 15, of Grand Prairie, a front seat passenger, was taken by ambulance to Methodist Dallas Medical Center and was listed in stable condition.
Sergeant Hansen said there was no evidence of alcohol involvement and the accident is still under investigation.
This is the 18th traffic fatality in Grand Prairie this year.
