Foundation Honors Slain Grand Prairie Police Officer
At a ceremony held Wednesday at the Public Safety Building, Denise Hunter, widow of Grand Prairie Police Sergeant Gregory Hunter, was presented a memorial statue by David Blanchard, President of the Badge of Honor Memorial Foundation.
The Badge of Honor Memorial Foundation is the national advocacy group for the families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Based out of Washington DC, the foundation has trustees throughout the country.
Sergeant Hunter was gunned down in June 2004 while investigating a suspicious van on the Wal-Mart parking lot. The suspect was shot and killed by Officer Bruce Seix, who was also wounded in the shooting.
Sergeant Hunter served with the Grand Prairie Police Department for more than twenty-nine years.
