Members of the Grand Prairie Fire Department began dressing in pink on Saturday to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The firefighter will wear pink t-shirts through October 30.
In addition, the Grand Prairie Firefighters Association is selling the t-shirts for $15 each to raise money for Susan G. Koman for the Cure, largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
The shirts are available for purchase at the following locations:
City Hall, 317 College St. from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, in the Marketing Department
Fire Station #1, 321 W. Main Street, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. seven days a week
Fire Station #3, 1702 Robinson Road, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. seven days a week
Fire Station #4, 1602 Duncan Perry Road, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. seven days a week
Fire Station #5, 3202 S. Great Southwest Parkway, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. seven days a week
Fire Station #7, 5610 Lake Ridge Parkway, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. seven days a week
Fire Station #9, 315 E. Polo Road, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. seven days a week
"This is just one small way we can support our wives, sisters, mothers and friends in their battle against this disease," Captain Jason Farris, President of the Grand Prairie Firefighters Association said in a press release.
Last year the association raised $800, it hopes to raise more than $3,500 this year.
