The Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce Branding Irons hosted a ribbon cutting on Thursday for one of its newest members, Rising Star Christian Academy.
The family owned, Christian centered child care facility began operations in December 2010 and now has over a hundred students.
“Rising Star is the highest quality provider at the lowest cost of any day care in the southern sector of Grand Prairie,” co-owner Marketta Nimo said.
The academy cares for children from infant to twelve years old. It provides a learning environment where each child can grow spiritually, intellectually, and physically.
Marketta Nimo said the academy has computers, a play grocery store, classrooms and learning activities. She said this year four of its six students that entered into kindergarten tested above level. She added that the academy has only one television, and it’s in the office.
