Weather Puts Early End to Weekend’s Concert
The unpredictable Texas weather put a premature end to Grand Prairie Parks and Recreation's blockbuster entertainment weekend Sunday night when the free End of Summer Bash concert’s headliner, Texas Country singer/songwriter Cory Morrow, had to be cancelled because of storms moving into the area.
The weekend started off on a bad note when weather caused a power outage in Grand Prairie’s downtown area forcing an hour and half delay starting The Stars from The Platters, The Coasters, The Drifters and Temptations Salute show at the Uptown Theater.
Saturday’s free End of Summer Bash concert at QuikTrip experienced no weather related problems. The night featured performances by the Clay Thrash Band, Double Ace and 70s and 80s rock group, Little River Band.
Sunday’s weather shortened program did have performances from The Bird Dogs and the Tejas Brothers before the bad weather arrived.
The nights’ scheduled fireworks also had to be cancelled due the area wide burn ban.
