Two Alarm Fire Damages Building at Traders Village

A fire broke out around 1:45 p.m. on Monday at Traders Village, 2602 Mayfield Road, damaging one building and displacing about fifteen vendors.

Deputy Fire Chief C. J. Grippen said the fire that went two alarms was contained in one, twenty bay, metal building.

The fire is still under investigation, Grippen said. The cause and loss estimate has not been determined.

Jacques Demott , Traders Village Director of General Services, said the building was located near the rear, center portion of the market on 12th and 13th streets. He said vendors in the building will be relocated to other spaces in the market.

The damaged metal building is expected to be taken down by this weekend.

“We will be back in normal operation on Saturday morning,” Demott said.
