October is Clean up Month in Grand Prairie
Grand Prairie residents have several opportunities to get rid of junk, household hazardous waste, pharmaceuticals and old papers at a variety of clean up events throughout the city in October.
Clean up events include:
- Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day - Saturday, Oct. 1, 9 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Development Center, 206 W. Church St. Household and automotive batteries are accepted as well as pharmaceuticals, motor oil, cooking oil, paint, aerosol cans, household, landscape and pool chemicals. Items not accepted include explosives, gas cylinders, fireworks, medical waste, radioactive materials and municipal trash. No commercial waste is accepted. - Trash Off - Saturday, Oct. 1, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Grand Prairie Landfill, 1102 MacArthur A $1 disposal fee will be charged for each automobile tire and computer. Proof of residency in the form of a driver's license or water bill is required. Residential disposal only. For information call 972-237-4555.
- Personal Document Shredding - Saturday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Grand Prairie Landfill, 1102 MacArthur. Shred your personal documents free. Limit five boxes. Proof of residence required. For information call 972-237-4555.

- Prescription Drug Disposal - Saturday, Oct. 29, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Public Safety Building, 1525 Arkansas Lane. Dispose of pharmaceuticals or controlled substances that are expired, unused or no longer needed. The program is anonymous and all efforts will be made to protect privacy.
