Midlothian Man Dies in Early Saturday Morning Car Crash

A single-car crash on U. S. Highway 287 south of Prairie Ridge in the Ellis County portion of Grand Prairie at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning killed Ruban Ortiz, 31, of Midlothian.

According to police, Ortiz was driving a 2009 Ford F-150 pickup southbound on U. S. 287 when the truck struck a guardrail. After the collision, the pickup went down an embankment, into a creek and overturned.

Ortiz, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Eric Hansen, Traffic Division, said the accident remains under investigation

This is the 14th traffic fatality in Grand Prairie this year.
