The National Weather Service in Fort Worth said a cold front stalled out near the Red River early this morning is expected to cause winds to shift around to the southwest at about 10 mph for Grand Prairie.
This will likely bring record heat to much of North Texas today with the hottest temperatures just south of the front.
Isolated thunderstorms are also possible along and north of Interstate 20 during the peak heating hours of the day today.
An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect until 9:00 p.m. Thursday.
