New ALCO Store to Open in October

Duckwall-ALCO Stores, Inc. announced its newest store will open in Grand Prairie on October 13. The approximately 20,000 square foot store located in the shopping center at the intersection of South Carrier Parkway and Pioneer Parkway will employ about 25 associates.

Founded in 1901 in Abilene, Kansas, Duckwall-ALCO Stores, Inc. has 213 stores across 23 states.

Alex Bran, Store Manager for the new Grand Prairie store, said the 110 year-old retailer specializes in providing a superior selection of brand-name merchandise essential for everyday life at reasonable prices to consumers. With its stores usually in smaller communities, Grand Prairie is the firm’s first time in a major metropolitan market, he said.

“We are confident that the new ALCO store will meet the needs of shoppers in Grand Prairie and the surrounding communities,” said Rich Wilson, Duckwall-ALCO Stores’ president and CEO. “We look forward to being involved in the community and serving shoppers with ALCO’s wide selection of merchandise, convenient location and friendly, local service.”

Bran is currently interviewing for management positions for the Grand Prairie store and will soon begin hiring associate positions. Persons interested in employment can pick up an application at either the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce, 900 Conover Drive or at the La Quinta Inn, 2131 West I-20.
