Mayor’s “Tools for School” Gets Students Ready for First Day
Grand Prairie United Charities (GPUC), a non-profit organization that provides Grand Prairie residents experiencing financial setbacks with immediate and emergency assistance, hosted its 4th annual Mayor’s Tools for School Saturday at Inglewood Baptist Church.
Tools for School is a program that receives donations from individuals, churches, civic organization and local businesses to provide school supplies for so Grand Prairie ISD students with financial needs will have the necessary supplies and a new outfit for the first day of school.
GPUC Executive Director Debbie Blubaugh said due to the economy and the reduction in donations, the agency had to cut back with its assistance. It helped 478 students at today’s event.
She said an additional 150 students reassigned from Eisenhower to Daniels Elementary school will receive school uniforms.
