City Recognized for Downtown Redevelopment Plan

At Tuesday’s City Council Briefing Session, the North Central Texas Council of Government awarded Grand Prairie with its Celebrating Leadership in Development Excellence (CLIDE) award for the city’s Downtown and Main street redevelopment plan.

Grand Prairie was one of sixteen projects selected among the record number of forty applicants that competed for the prestigious award. The city was recognized for its Main Street building façade improvement program, sidewalk improvements and the restoration of the Uptown Theater.

The CLIDE award recognizes cities so as to promote quality growth in North Central Texas that enhances the built environment, reduces vehicle miles of travel, uses water & energy resources effectively and efficiently, and helps advance environmental stewardship in order to ensure continued economic vitality and provide the highest attainable quality of life for all residents.
