City Asks for Amateur Radio Operators Help

Licensed amateur radio operators who are able to volunteer their time and equipment during an emergency are invited to help develop a Grand Prairie Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services organization.

An informational meeting will take place on Monday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m. in the city of Grand Prairie’s Emergency Operations Center inside the Charles England Public Safety Complex, 310 W. College St.

Once formed, the Grand Prairie RACES group will provide supplemental communications within Grand Prairie, surrounding jurisdictions, and with county, state and federal agencies during severe weather emergencies and disasters.

Representatives from the National Weather Service, Tarrant and Dallas County RACES, Irving RACES and city of Grand Prairie Emergency Management will attend the meeting.
