Six Killed in Shooting at Roller Rink
Grand Prairie police spokesman Detective John Brimmer said police received a call about the active shooting in the roller rink around 7:15 p.m. He said officers arrived about two minutes later to find the victims.
Police Chief Steve Dye said in a news conference that police believe there was some type of gathering at the rink when a domestic dispute erupted between a man and his wife when the man pulled a gun and began shooting.
Chief Dye added that along with the five deceased, four more were injured and transported to local hospital. He also said it appears the suspected gunman died of a self inflicted gunshot wound.
“This investigation is in the initial stage,” Chief Dye said. “As more information is forth coming, we will certainly release what we are able to.”
Police investigators are working to identify the victims to notify next of kin. Police would not release the ages of the victims.
“We will have crisis counselors on hand for the witnesses, victims and families of the victims to make sure the Grand Prairie Police Department is offering every resource to help heal in this process,” Chief Dye said.
More information will be published as it becomes available.
