Suspected Drunk Driver Held After Fatal Crash

Update 6/5: Police identified the fatality victim as Shun Jerome Williams.

A 32 year-old Dallas man was killed Friday night when the vehicle he was riding in on I-30 was struck from behind by a suspected drunk driver.

The victim whose identity is being withheld by police until notification of next of kin was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Arlington Memorial Hospital.

Police said the accident occurred around 11:40 p.m. when a 2005 Nissan the victim was riding in was traveling westbound on I-30 and slowed for a highway work zone at the intersection of Highway 161.

The Nissan was struck from behind by a Ford pickup driven by Gustavo Camacho, 31, of Arlington. The impact sent the Nissan into the rear of GMC Yukon occupied by Marlen Lara of Arlington and her 9 year-old daughter.

Camacho, who has two prior drunk driving convictions and is unlicensed, was arrested at the scene. He was booked into the Grand Prairie City Jail and charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and one count of Intoxication Assault. He is being held on $125,000 bond.

The driver of the Nissan Cheryl Cooper and another passenger, her sister, Charlotte Yarbrough, were taken by ambulance to Methodist Dallas Medical Center where they were listed in stable condition.

Lara and her daughter were taken by ambulance to Arlington Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released.

This is the 9th traffic fatality in Grand Prairie this year.
