Truman Middle School to Become a STEM Academy for Girls
The Grand Prairie Independent School District announced Monday that it will recommend to the School Board that Truman Middle School become a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) academy for girls in the 2012-2013 school year.
The district said its recent research and information gathering revealed a strong interest by both educators and the community to pursue adding schools of choice, creating gender segregated schools and/or classes, and providing increased opportunity for STEM to all students.
The current programming at Truman will remain in place for the 2011-2012 school year while the district plans for the academy’s opening in 2012-2013.
