Rainwater Earns Pitcher of the Week

By Josh Hirsch/Grand Prairie AirHogs

Grand Prairie AirHogs righty Josh Rainwater had a brilliant outing on Saturday, pitching seven shutout innings with three hits, no walks and five strikeouts to lead the 'Hogs to their first win of the 2011 season. The outing also turned out to bring the AirHogs their first league-wide honor of the year, as Rainwater was named the American Association Pitcher of the Week honors, as selected by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association.

p>The Louisiana native retired the first seven batter he faced, and did not let any of the Gary SouthShore RailCats get to third base. He also did not allow more than one baserunner in any of his innings, and none of the five hits that Rainwater gave up were anything other than singles.

"We were really working together as a team," Rainwater said. "I worked great with my catcher [Scott Clement] and let my defense work behind me, and it really was a team effort to get us the win."
