Police Motorcycle Skills Competition
This weekend the parking lots at Verizon Theater were transformed into complex sets of traffic coned marked courses setup to test the skills of motorcycle police officers. The three days of training, head to head competition featuring electric motorcycles, and course practice runs, concluded with the skills rodeo on Saturday.
Hosted by the Grand Prairie Police Department and John Wright Associates, Inc., the first annual Spring Classic Police Motorcycle Rodeo attracted fifty motorcycle officers with experience level ranging from just a few months as motorcycle officer to Grand Prairie’s Kim Wolf with more than twenty-years as a motorcycle officer.
Officers came from as far away as the Amarillo, Texas Police Department and the Louisiana State Police Motorcycle Unit for the inaugural event.
The event benefited Spokes4Hope, a non-profit organization with a mission to help brighten the lives of children who are going thru a difficult time in their lives. Spokes4Hope works with the many child advocacy centers across Texas that are dedicated to finding a more compassionate and effective way to bring services to children victimized by abuse.
