Early Thunder Sends T-Bones to Easy Win

By Josh Hirsch/Grand Prairie AirHogs

Grand Prairie AirHogs righty Jae Jung endured a nightmare start to Saturday night's game, as the first five batters all reached and scored against him to spark the Kansas City T-Bones to a 7-2 win at Community America Ballpark.

Keanon Simon started things with a single and went to second on a wild pitch, before Jimmy Mojica's base hit to left opened the scoring. Singles by Rico Washington and Ray Sadler made it 2-0, before Dwayne White launched Jung's first pitch over the right-centerfield wall for a three-run homer and a 5-0 lead for Kansas City (6-3).

Jung (1-1) actually pitched very well after that, allowing only two runs on three hits through the remainder of his seven innings.

However, the early hole was much too deep for the AirHogs (5-4) against starter Reid Santos (1-1). The T-Bones lefty worked around trouble for the first seven innings, including stranding the bases loaded with one out in the seventh. But after a hard line drive out to start the eighth inning, a single and two doubles by Cesar Nicolas, Greg Porter and John Alonso scored two and chased Santos from the game after 118 pitches. In came Steven Stewart, and he struck out the next two hitters to preserve the five-run lead

The AirHogs conclude their three-game series with the Kansas City T-Bones on Sunday, May 22, at 5:05 p.m. The next home game at QuikTrip Park is Friday, May 27, against the defending champion Shreveport-Bossier Captains at 7:05 p.m.
