GPHS CAPERS Forensic Squad Wins at State

The CAPERS Forensic Squad competed at the Texas Forensic Association State Tournament from Thursday (3/10) through late Saturday (3/12) night at Flower Mound High School. Students across the state competed at qualifying tournaments from August to February to earn their spot at the State Championship Tournament. This year, over 1400 students from 204 schools earned that right.

Out of the 18 students that competed, 14 advanced to the quarterfinal round, 8 advanced to the semifinal round and 4 students "broke" to the final round.

Grand Prairie is now home to the 2011 Texas Forensic Association Duo State Champions! Senior Julian Flores and sophomore Juan Martinez won the state championship against 94 other teams. This marks the first time that GPISD history that any students have won a Texas Forensic Association State Championship! Additionally for the first time in GPISD history, Grand Prairie won a sweepstakes trophy at the tournament, placing 5th against 204 other schools. The students are now looking forward to the National Tournament of Champions as well as NFL Nationals this summer.
