The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Winter Storm Watch for snow and freezing rain effective from late Tuesday night through Wednesday afternoon for Grand Prairie, areas along and north of the I-20 corridor.
An Arctic cold front will arrive during the early morning hours on Wednesday with temperatures dropping into the 20s by mid morning. Meanwhile an upper level disturbance will move across the area and bring a chance of precipitation. Snow amounts are expected to range near 2 to 4 inches along the Red River, with 1 to 2 inches in Grand Prairie.
In addition to snow, freezing rain is possible, especially for regions along the I-20 corridor. Ice accumulations from freezing rain may reach 1/10 of an inch. All wintry precipitation is expected to be heaviest in the morning hours and taper off during the afternoon.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
