Holiday DUI enforcement nets 15 arrests

This past Christmas and New Year’s holiday period, Grand Prairie Police, utilizing a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT), stepped up its DUI enforcement that resulted in 15 suspected intoxicated drivers taken off the streets.

The TXDOT grant paid overtime for additional officers to patrol the streets targeting traffic and DUI enforcement, Sergeant Eric Hansen, Traffic Division Supervisor said.

In addition to the DUI arrests, Sergeant Hansen reported that officers assigned to the enhanced DUI enforcement issued 99 citations, made 2 drug arrests, and 7 other arrests during the enforcement period that ran from December 16, 2010 through January 3, 2011.
