Auditions for Arts Council’s 2011 spring show
The Grand Prairie Arts Council (GPAC) has set open audition dates for its 2011 spring show, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, one of Broadway’s funniest musical ever written.
Auditions will be held at the GPAC Studio, 116 East Main Street – next door to the Uptown Theater. Auditions are by appointment, additional information is available on the GPAC website.
Audition dates:
January 4: 6:00 - 9:00 pm
January 6: 6:00 - 9:00 pm
January 7: call backs if needed
January 9: Cast read-through
Rehearsals are scheduled for January 9 – February 16. Performance will be February 17-20 and 24-27 (8 shows) at the Uptown Theater.
Casting Information:
Minimum age to audition: 18 years old.
Ages listed are preferred ages, "looks-like" age will also be considered
Domina - An overbearing wife (Mezzo-Soprano) 35-50 years old
Erronius - A doddering old man (Baritone) 45-60 years old
Hero - Senex's son, the handsome, innocent master, in love with Philia (Tenor) 18-25 years old
Hysterium - Pseudolus' hapless fellow slave and slave to Senex & Domina (Tenor) 25-35 years old
Lycus - A buyer and seller of courtesans (Baritone) 25-40 years old
Miles gloriosus - Lycus' pompous warrior client (Bass Baritone) 19-35 years old
Philia - The lovely-but-vacant courtesan (Soprano) 18-25 years old
Pseudolus - Playful, comic ringmaster of the show and slave to Hero (Baritone) 18-25 years old
Senex - Hero's father and the aging master of the house (Baritone) 35-50 years old
The Courtesans: females 18-25 years oldTintinabula - Belly dancing and dance solosThe Proteans: 4 males 18-25 years old
Panacea - Jazz dance solo
The Geminae (2) - Light gymnastics and poses
Vibrata - Good singing voice (able to hit a high C)
Gymnasia - Athletic build "amazonish-look"Omnipresent "clowns" - light gymnastic work, good comedic-timing, good pantomime work
