Students paint mural at Prairie Paws Adoption Center
Advanced Art Placement Students at South Grand Prairie High School have almost completed a mural on a wall at the intake office of Prairie Paws Adoption Center.
The project, developed to give a nice background for the Prairie Paws staff to photograph pets ready for adoption, is part of each student’s National Art Honors Society's community service requirement.
“This is a great opportunity for the kids to give back to the community and to get real-life practical experience in a large format mural,” said Art Director Barbara Hagle. “We have really talented artists at our high school and we are delighted to showcase a few of them in this manner.”
Carlos Ruiz, one of the students involved in creating the mural, said most likely he will someday move from Grand Prairie, but this project gives him a lasting, emotional bond with the city.
The city purchased the supplies and the students donated their time and talent.
