Students get inside look at aviation industry

Fifty Grand Prairie ISD high school students Monday got an inside look at careers in the aviation industry courtesy of Grand Prairie based American Eurocopter.

Andrea Winning, Manager of Public Relations Delivery Center, said the career fair is part of EADS’, the parent company of American Eurocopter, world-wide effort to introduce aviation career opportunities to local students.

She said at Monday’s event the students saw presentations about various sections of the company and learned of the educational, licensing requirements for employment. After the presentations, students toured the facility to see first-hand the work at various stages of constructing and repairing helicopters.

Brenda Reuland Vice-President Communications and Public Relations said American Eurocopter works closely with local schools and universities, offering tours and appearing at career fairs to show students the possibilities of aviation careers.

“These events are very exciting for us because we love to work with the local community and especially the kids,” Reuland said. She continued that it is very import for young people to get a good education and American Eurocopter is always looking for well educated, bright people.
