Park Board member, Grand Prairie resident and jewelry designer Patrick Greenwade designed this seventh in a series of annual ornaments. It features a representation of The Willow, a commissioned work of art in the lakes of Central Park and commemorates the opening of the city’s newest and largest park, Central Park, at SH 161 between Warrior Trail and Arkansas Lane. Central Park is home to the new Public Safety Building and Summit, an active adult center. The Willow stands 30 foot by 40 foot and is made of stainless steel and 80,000 black Mother-of-Pearl handcrafted leaves. The silver-tone ornament captures the sparkle of the leaves as it turns gently on your Christmas tree.
Also available for $10 each are the inaugural 2004 ornament, recognizing Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie’s World Thoroughbred Championship Breeders’ Cup; the 2005 “I Love Grand Prairie” ornament; the 2006 “Starry Nights” ornament; the 2007 “Uptown Theater” ornament; and the 2008 “Prairie Lights” ornament. The 2009 “Centennial” ornaments are sold out. For more information, call 972-237-8086.
