Groundbreaking for city’s twenty-eighth Habitat for Humanity Home

Manhattan Construction, the firm that built Central Park, The Summit, and the Public Safety Building, in partnership with the City of Grand Prairie and Habitat for Humanity kicked off construction Monday on the 28th Habitat home to be built in Grand Prairie for deserving families.

Bruce Fields, Manhattan Project Executive, said after working in Grand Prairie with its projects, “We absolutely just fell in love with working in this community and we wanted to give back to the community, to stay involved.”

Community volunteers will work daily Monday-Saturday to complete construction on the 4-bedroom, 2-bath, 1,942-square-foot home for Zaneta Clark, a family of five, which should blend well with the established neighborhood.

Manhattan has lined several volunteers including:

  • Republic Waste - on-site dumpsters
  • Dyna Ten/JMEG - utilities, plumbing, electrical, appliances
  • Sunnyvale Fence - installation of fencing
  • Metheny - installation of landscaping
  • Prime Pest Control - termite treatment
  • Metric - concrete formwork
  • Suncoast PT/Capform - concrete reinforcing
  • TXI,Capform - concrete place and finish
  • Texas Stone - masonry
  • Kathryn Sargent - interior wood blocking and trim
  • Chamberlin - damproofing and caulking
  • DGB - windows, sliding door
  • Dallas Door - doors and hardware
  • Baker - drywall
  • RWA - carpet, flooring
  • Naylor - paint
  • ABC Doors - garage door
  • Bon Air - HVAC
