Scouts hold Cub Fun Day at Camp Wisdom

More than 300 Cub Scouts and adult volunteers from Scout Packs across Grand Prairie participated in the Boy Scouts of America Circle Ten Council’s Cub Fun Day held Saturday and Sunday at Camp Wisdom in Dallas.

Donovan Kitamura, Circle Ten Council District Executive, said the fun day is a follow-up to the Scouts recent recruitment drive.

“What we’re trying to do today is show the kids of Grand Prairie what Scouting is all about,” Kitamura said. “Through the fun that they can have, they learn the basis of Scouting, character development, and making ethical and moral decisions.”

He added that many of the Scouts at the event are new to Scouting and Cub Fun Day is their first Scouting experience.

The Scouts participated in five outdoor adventures during the day that ranged from archery shooting to maneuvering through a maze. The day concluded with a meal and an overnight campout on the grounds of the spacious Camp Wisdom.

Kitamura said any youngster interested in Scouting can call him at 214-902-6740 or go online to the Boy Scouts of America website to signup.
