The City of Grand Prairie hosted a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday at the main entrance of Trader’s Village to celebrate the completion of construction on Mayfield from State Highway 360 to Great Southwest Parkway.

The $11.6 million project primarily funded by the City of Grand Prairie with cost participation with Trader’s Village to accommodate its storm drainage flows, transformed the existing 5-lane, worn asphalt roadway into a 5-lane concrete curb and gutter section of roadway, with additional turn lanes, water, wastewater, and drainage improvements.

Councilman Richard Fregoe complimented Trader’s Village for its part in the project. “They participated actually financially and have done an outstanding job above and beyond what was required as far as the landscaping and fencing,” he said.

A new city entrance sign was installed near State Highway 360 as well as ornamental iron fencing, irrigation improvements, and landscaping at the municipal airport.
