AirHogs take two from the Cats

Trailing most of the game, Grand Prairie plated five in the bottom of the seventh to score a walk-off 6-5 win in game one of Saturday night’s doubleheader against Fort Worth at QuikTrip Park.

The five-run rally started with an RBI single by LF Aaron Garza, and the AirHogs won the game when 2B Chris Brown knocked in the go-ahead run.

After two Grand Prairie pitchers allowed four runs in four innings, reliever Greg Krause didn’t allow a run in three innings and earned his second win.

The AirHogs got solid pitching in game two from starter Daniel Schmidt and reliever Mike Bille for a 2-0 victory.

Schmidt pitched 5.1 innings giving up only four hits to notch his second win of the season. Bille relieved in the sixth inning to get the save.

First baseman Greg Porter was perfect at the plate, going 3-3 and scoring the two AirHogs’ runs. He scored in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by RF Robert Perry and hit a solo home run in the sixth, his eight homer of the season.

The AirHogs begin an eight game road trip Sunday, returning to QuikTrip on July 13.
