Saltogs land AirHogs 15-2

By Travis L. Brown

The Lincoln Saltdogs exacted their revenge on the AirHogs, routing Grand Prairie 15-2 Thursday night at QuikTrip Park. The ‘Hogs took two games in a row against Lincoln, outscoring the Saltdogs 20 to three, despite dropping games one and four. With the loss, the AirHogs drop to second place with a record of 18-14, one game behind Shreveport-Bossier.

The Saltdogs began the night with a bang, scoring four runs in the top of the second of two, two-run homers from Shawn McGill and Brandon Jones off AirHogs starter Jarod Plummer. Plummer ended the night early going 4.1 innings and giving up seven runs on six hits.

McGill was the number one ‘Hog killer on the night, going deep a second time in the fourth. Lincoln’s runs kept coming in twos as two doubles in the fifth and the seventh scored two each bringing the Saltdog total to 11 by the seventh.

Albenis Machado added to the route with a gapper double to left center scoring two more for the Saltdogs. A single by Gavin Dickey would bring in the 15th and final run for Lincoln to finish the ‘Hogs and split the four game series.

Grand Prairie was able to manage two runs in the game thanks to an RBI single from Juan Camacho in the third. Lincoln handed the ‘Hogs a freebie in the sixth, walking in a run with the bases loaded.

The loss puts the AirHogs a game back in the South Division, behind Shreveport-Bossier, and a game behind Lincoln who is second in the North Division.

The ‘Hogs hit the road for a three game set in Shreveport-Bossier to attempt to regain the division lead. They return to action at home Monday to take on El Paso for the first time at QuikTrip Park this season.
