Remembering Sgt. Gregory Hunter
“Today is a day we will always remember,” Grand Prairie Police Chief Glen Hill said to the friends and family of Sergeant Gregory Hunter who gathered near the spot where he was killed on June 18, 2004 to remember the slain police officer.
Sergeant Hunter was shot and killed while he and another officer investigated a suspicious vehicle at the Walmart, 2225 West Interstate 20.
Many who attended Friday’s memorial service placed flowers at the monument erected in the store’s parking lot. The service concluded with Walmart presenting Chief Hill a $500 check to the Grand Prairie Benevolent Association.
