Heavy rain possible Wednesday and Thursday

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth said today a widespread heavy rain event appears likely across parts of North and Central Texas that could lead to flash flooding and river flooding late Wednesday into Thursday.

The primary weather feature that will bring heavy rains is an upper level low pressure system that was located near Laredo at midday Tuesday. The system is forecast to track roughly along Interstate 35 through Wednesday night. Several periods of very heavy rain are expected to accompany this system.

The Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Watch for Wednesday through Thursday and urged everyone to monitor weather conditions for possible flood warnings.
