Green tosses gem, ‘Hogs fly past Cats 7-1
The AirHogs’ run producing machine was hot Wednesday as the ‘Hogs put up a run in all but two innings, taking down the Fort Worth Cats, 7-1. AirHogs starter Matt Green put up a quality effort and earned his first win of the season, going seven innings giving up only one run on three hits and four strikeouts.
The ‘Hogs began the onslaught in the first inning off a Greg Porter double to the left of the Porter Pool Deck in right field scoring David Espinosa. Porter then sent a fly ball deep to score the ‘Hog’s second run of the night on the sacrifice. He went 2-3 on the night with two doubles to boost his batting lead.
Grand Prairie kept the momentum going in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings scoring one in each. A Joe Spiers RBI hit into an an error did the work in the fourth, while a Juan Camacho RBI single up the middle in the fifth and an Espinosa RBI single to center in the sixth boosted the score to 5-1.
Spiers capped off the AirHogs scoring with a broken bat single to center, scoring two for the AirHogs only multiple run inning of the night.
The AirHogs return to action tomorrow, completing the two-game home stand against the Cats at QuikTrip Park.
