“Remember the Fallen” benefit golf tournament
The tournament hosted by the Grand Prairie Police Benevolent Association, benefits non-profit charities such as the Texas Peace Officers Memorial Foundation, Concerns of Police Survivors, Guns & Hoses Foundation of North Texas, MADD, Santa Cop, Grand Prairie Police Benevolent Association and the Sgt. Gregory L. Hunter Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
The scholarship foundation was founded by Sgt. Hunter's widow, Denise and their daughter Erin, after Grand Prairie Police Sgt. Hunter was tragically murdered by an armed felon on Friday, June 18, 2004. The foundation awards two $1,000 scholarships annually to a graduating senior from each high school in Grand Prairie. To date, $10,000 in scholarships has been awarded.
