Arts Council announces lineup for concerts in the park series
This year’s popular concert series held each Friday evening in April at the Turner Park Gazebo, features what the Arts Council says is its best concert lineup ever. Three of the bands are sponsored by the Texas Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts - American Masterpieces.
The free concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. and dinner concessions will be available. Families can bring their lawn chairs, blankets, picnics, and enjoy a fabulous lineup of entertainment in scenic Turner Park.
Concert in the Park lineup:
April 2 – Tin Roof Tango: Take five talented musicians, add over twenty instruments and music from six continents, sprinkle on a bit of dance and a few jokes, and you have the recipe for Tin Roof Tango's Big Acoustic World Show.April 9 – South Grand Prairie High Jazz Band: Our own homegrown award-winning band.
April 16 – The Gimbles: 3 generations of musicians rolled up in one Texas-style symphony of swing and country music. Emily, Dick, and Johnny Gimble are each powerhouse musicians and as a family package they resonate with the very roots of Western swing.
April 23 – Brave Combo: If Brave Combo has a credo, it is Do Something Different, from polka-tinged rock, pop, salsa, and beyond, this two-time Grammy award-winning band has created a dizzying repertoire that thrills long-time fans and captivates curious newcomers.
