Farmers Market opens new season in Market Square

Despite the cold temperatures, vendors and customers from around the area filled the “barn” at Market Square Saturday for the opening day of the Grand Prairie Farmers Market.

A constant stream of customers filed into the building to shop from vendors such as longtime Farmers Market seller Tony Vann Farms from Bowie, The Tamale Company, Aduro Bean Micro-Roasters, and Roundrock Honey.

Susan Faulkner who sells handmade soap and soy candles said she was very pleased with Farmers Market’s long season and with Market Square, “There is a lot of local interest and a lot of repeat customers. So, people come out rain or shine. As a vendor, we’re happy about that.”

“We started coming into Grand Prairie last fall,” said Leah Miller with the Country Store, a small, family owned bakery in Grandview that sells baked goods made from with all natural ingredients and no preservative. “We’re going to keep coming here because I think there is some good potential here.”

The Farmers Market is open each Saturday from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. through December 18 in Market Square, 120 W. Main.
