Police and Fire begin donation drive for Santa Cop and Santa Spot

Grand Prairie Police and Fire Department kicked off their annual Santa Cop and Santa Spot drive on Sunday to collect toys and holiday food to help underprivileged families in Grand Prairie have a merry Christmas.

Police Officer Mark Calvert said this year he expects to distribute to about 400 families that have been pre-qualified through referrals from the Grand Prairie ISD, Arlington ISD, police, firefighters and other city employees

He said those wishing to donate can drop off new, unwrapped toys and nonperishable food at the following locations:

  • All fire stations
  • Police stations
  • City Hall
  • City Development Center
  • City Hall Annex
  • All libraries
  • Senior Citizen Center

Anyone with large toys can call Officer Calvert to make arrangements to have the toys picked up.

The toys and food will be distributed on December 17.

Officer Calvert said donations of money are always welcome and anyone wanting to volunteer to help or needing additional information can call him at 972-237-8814.
