Grand Prairie recorded its twelfth traffic fatality Wednesday morning when Eric Shiller, 29, of Arlington lost control of his motorcycle and crashed in the 1400 block of South Carrier Parkway.

Police were called to the scene at about 7:55 a.m. Wednesday when a meter reader spotted Shiller’s body in a ditch.

Investigators believe Shiller was driving at a high rate of speed southbound on Carrier when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, and struck a culvert. Shiller was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene. The motorcycle vaulted into the south fork of Cottonwood Creek and submerged in the water.

A nearby resident told investigators they heard a crash around 12:30 a.m. but did not see anything.

Sergeant Eric Hansen, Traffic Division, said the accident remains under investigation
