Grand Prairie Unity Coalition banquet
To encourage and celebrate unity and equality throughout the community, the Grand Prairie Unity Coalition held its 5th annual banquet Thursday night at the Ruthe Jackson Center. The banquet drew people of all races, backgrounds, national origin and religious beliefs in a spirit of unification through association and education.
“Unity is not coming together, unity is about being together,” the night’s keynote speaker Andrew White, Assistant to the City Manager said.
White used the triangle of unity to illustrate his three points of unity.
- Learn to appreciate who you are and know who you are.
- Don’t ever underestimate the contributions of others.
- Learn for encounters.
White concluded praising the Mayor, City Council, and the City Manager for their leadership in creating a world class service attitude in the city to serve all people.
Grand Prairie Arts Council held a juried student art and poetry contest in conjunction with the unity banquet with the theme being, Grand Prairie’s 100 Years Towards Unity.
