Gophers win Prairie Bowl Classic
Grand Prairie beats South Grand Prairie 25-17 Friday night in the Gopher-Warrior Bowl taking home the Prairie Bowl Classic trophy and knocking the Warriors out of a possible playoff spot.
The Gophers took a 10 point lead on its first two possession of the game. Vic Salinas scored the games first score on a one yard run and on the Gophers next possession, Alex Rostro kicked a 37 yard field goal.
The Warriors came back to take a 17-10 lead at halftime on scores from a Jordan Wiggs kicked a 15 yard field goal, a 7 yard run by Demetrius Thompson and a 1 yard run by Thompson.
The Gophers came back early in the third quarter when Deyontia Tennessee scored on a 58 yard pass from Tommy Alvarez.
Alvarez again connected with Tennessee on the two point conversation to put the Gophers in front 18-17.
A 19 yard pass from Alvarez to Tennessee put up the games final score.
