Congressman Marchant hosts Purple Heart ceremony

Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX – 24) hosted a ceremony on Sunday to honor Purple Heart recipients from his district. The event was held in Grapevine with nearly 200 people in attendance.

Grand Prairie residents Al Babina and Roy E. Hill were among the twenty-eight Purple Heart recipients and their family members honored by Congressman Marchant. The ceremony featured an Honor guard presentation from the Grapevine Fire and Police Departments and Boy Scout Troop 28.

Congressman Marchant spoke about the sacrifices of Purple Heart recipients and the gratitude the American people owe them. “We are gathered in this place to honor these veterans,” said Marchant. “Each day we live our lives with peace, in freedom, that was protected by these men. We cannot forget the sacrifices that have been made by so many. We cannot forget the sacrifices that are being made today.”

Additional remarks were given by Purple Heart recipient, Lt. Colonel Don Munson who helped organize the event.

Congressman Marchant presented each Purple Heart recipient with an American Flag, a certificate of appreciation and a Purple Heart coin. Each spouse was presented with a rose in appreciation of their support.
