The Write Day in GPISD

The Grand Prairie Independent School District has had great success with its Drop Everything and Read Days, so on Tuesday the district went one step further with a similar project, A National Day of Writing.

Sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English, students across the district stopped study at 9:00 a.m. to write an affirmation for anyone who has had a positive influence in their life.

Some students, like South Grand Prairie High School tenth grader Cecelia Gaffney, chose a teacher. So between classes, Gaffney took the time to deliver her handwritten affirmation to Spanish teacher Kenneth Segovia.
