Nathan Thompson, 30, was arrested Sunday morning after firing a gun at Grand Prairie police officers.

The incident began around 12:40 a.m. when officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a residence in the 1200 block of Cottonwood Valley Lane. The caller said Thompson was intoxicated, threatening family members and was armed with a gun.

When officers arrived at the residence they learned Thompson was no longer there.

Approximately 2 hours later, a patrol officer located Thompson in his vehicle on Belt Line Road. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but the Thompson refused to stop. While fleeing from officer, Thompson fired his gun at passing police vehicles.

After a brief vehicle pursuit, Thompson abandoned his vehicle, made it back to the residence on Cottonwood Valley Lane and barricaded himself inside.

Police surrounded the residence and around 7:40 a.m. a negotiator convinced Thompson to surrender.

In a statement, Grand Prairie Police spokesman Detective John Brimmer said no police officer was injured. The case is still being investigated by detectives and Thompson will be charged with Criminal Attempt Capital Murder.
