City files response to pipeline lawsuit

Attorneys for the City of Grand Prairie filed a response in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas to a lawsuit filed by Texas Midstream Gas Services on September 30.  The lawsuit alleges the city imposed ordinances that regulate pipeline safety in the construction of compressor stations.

In the forty-five page response filed Wednesday, the City denied it is attempting to regulate pipeline safety or prevent construction of compressor stations. It said the City seeks to promote construction of compressor stations that fit with the aesthetics of the established areas.  This is to ensure compatibility with the surrounding residential developments in order to maintain property value.

No date has been set for a ruling on the lawsuit.
