The purchase of the former Winn Dixie grocery located at 1100 N. Carrier Parkway will be an agenda item on Thursday’s Grand Prairie Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting.   The school district plans to develop the property into an Accelerated High School.

The site is the location once proposed by the city for a Parkland Health & Hospital System community clinic.  Plans for the clinic fell through after nearby property owners protested the location.

The school district’s proposal is to spend $1.5 million for purchase of the property and in a separate agenda item, authorize $125,000 to Corgan Architects for architectural services to design the new high school.   All is to be funded by the 2007 Bond Referendum

The open session of the board meeting begins at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, in the Board Room at the Education Center, 2602 S. Belt Line Rd.
