School board approves purchase of Winn Dixie property

The Grand Prairie Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the purchase of the former Winn Dixie grocery, 1100 N. Carrier Pkwy, at their regular board meeting Thursday night.

The property will become the site of an Accelerated High School which will offer innovative programs to help at risk students graduate.

The district will pay $1.5 million for the property and spend an additional $125,000 for architectural services to design the new school.

Money for the project will be funded by the 2007 Bond Referendum.
